Hey Guys! I just wanted to give you an update on my homie and shop owner Sam Stuarts skateboard life.

15 of our team members went up to Edmonton to be part of the “Edmonton Skate Assoc Chop Your Mop” Terry Fox Foundation fundraiser. They participated in the day event, including a bottle drive for the cause. Check out this link just after the 12:00 minute mark for a news clip on the event!!

Beat The Heat is a skateboard contest that has grown from a local gathering to a nationally recognized event. Over the years, people from all over Western Canada have made BTH a staple event to attend. This contest brings out some of the best talent in the country, from Vancouver to Winnipeg.

Because of its close affiliation with the local Medicine Hat, AB Canada Day festivities, BTH is able to attract the attention of thousands of spectators. In doing this, it helps to shed a positive light on skateboarding within the community and allows the scene to grow and prosper in the small prairie city of Medicine Hat, AB.

This year the competitors battled for the cash purse of $7,250.00. Furthermore, over $10,000.00 worth of prizes were given away to the competitors and attendees. In a continuing attempt to make this event as far-reaching as possible, big things are being planned for next year. See you there.

This year was legit. So many people. Amazing skateboarding, so much money and crazy best tricks. If you havent been out to one of our Skate Comps, you need to come on out next year!

Judging Rundown For Beat The Heat 2010!

$7250 to give away and $1000 designated for best trick leaving $6250 to give out in the comp.

We will have a PRELIMINARY RUN (2 or 3 competitors per run depending on number of entrants)

Top 30 advance to SEMI FINALS

Top 10 advance to FINALS

CASH PRIZES :

A.  Overall standings :

We will have a guaranteed set winning for the top 3 scores based on the judges scoring.  There are 5 judges.  The highest and lowest scores are tossed out and we  average the remaining 3.

1^st place will win $2000 and

2^nd $1000 and

3^rd $500.

B.  Each competitor who makes the top 10 will receive $20 (their entry fee back).

C.  Thus leaving $510 for each judge to give away :

Each judge based on their top 3 highest scores must give their 1^st place ranked skater $200, 2^nd $100 and 3^rd $50, leaving each judge with $160 to still give out.

Each judge can give $20 in the PRELIMINARY ROUND to whom they so choose for reasons of their choice (tricks made, style, etc.) but they may choose to save their money for later rounds.

Second round (SEMI FINALS) they can give $40 away and the final round (FINALS) of top 10 they have $100 to give out.
